the metropolis of panama city...

probably central americas best city to have a cruisey few days of sightseeing, exploring restaurants, catching a movie and doing a spot of shopping - panama city really has it all. after our few days in san blas, it was nice being back in the city although a little over whelming as the simplicity of life for the kuna's on the islands is vastly different to that of the panamanians in the city. luckily for us our spanish was good enough for us to take in the sights ourselves without having to sign up for a day tour.

our first day was spen taking in the amador causeway, the pacific side of the panama canal and watching some shipping tankers pass through the miraflores lock, crossing the bridge of the americas and dining in casco viejo (the old city). our second day as city slickers saw us enjoy a movie at panama cities newsiest mall (multicentro plaza) and walking along balboa avenue to take in the city skyline as well as happening across carnival. a fun filled party of music, drinks, water pistols, shaving creams floats and and all things celebratory. a great way to celebrate kurts birthday before heading to panama cities gastronomic epicentre, via espana for a game of pool and some pizzas.

now that our trip through central america has come to an end, our two months getting from mexico to panama has been exciting, frustrating, educational and amazing. we have thoroughly enjoyed our time in each spot and are happy to report that we visited each country. thats seven countries in two months (however honduras was technically only a pass through). we are now off to the usa for three weeks exploring before heading back to australia.
